Buena Buena: The White Coat

One of the things that they seem to talk up at WVU dental school is the white coat ceremony, an induction ceremony in which you receive a white coat indicating your readiness to start treating your own patients. You start to hear about it at day one. Then you get to let the anticipation build for the next two years. Finally the day arrives and with it some mixed thoughts and feelings like, "wow, I wish I was sleeping right now" said one of my fellow inductees. Another, "I hope they have good food afterwards". My self "man I hope they don't stand up there and blow hot air for the next hour and a half".
After standing around in the hall waiting for the ceremony to start we next got the opportunity to practice some skills we learned in the K-guard, namely walking in a single file line and sitting when told. The speeches were short, which warrantied a sigh of relief from myself. After listening to some of the professors for past two years you realize how long winded they can be and the thought that there was no present ending point was a little daunting. But when it was all said and done, the comments that were directed towards us were thought provoking and left me feeling that receiving the white coat was a milestone in which resembled the culmination of all the long hours of studying, taking test, practicing preps on fake teeth and giving injections to my class mates. All of which are fond memories.
Although I may not have been too excited about the whole thing at first... having Dr. Hornbrook put that white coat on me sure felt good.

Me and the Russian, aka Alex. We are members of the DDS club. Which stand for the Dental Domino Society. We, and the other member of our club who is not pictured (Larkin left early) play domino's every lunch hour.
